On 9 July, three weeks after the guild was founded, we had our first Guild Party. We looked at several locations and chose to grace Darnassus with our presence, The Howling Oak to be precise. A nice, out-of-the-way area with a whirlpool (okay, a moonwell) and sparklies which enhanced the festive mood.
There was laughter, nekkid dancing, showing off vanity pets, fireworks, a disconnection or 6 and lots of balloons. A proper party, indeed!
After sipping from a Glass of Dalaran White and carefully tasting one or two of the famed Dwarven ales, most of us got completely smashed from some Caraway Burnwine that somehow got smuggled in (I had nothing to do with that, I can assure you).
Oringo then led us in a conga line through Darnassus and through the portal to Rut’theran Village. You’d think people with Social Anxiety would rather not draw attention to themselves by going to Stormwind City on a Saturday evening in their party outfits (although some were still nekkid, thanks to the inventory bug), but not Paranoid and The Bravery was soon transformed to a party boat!
With Kia wisely disassociating himself from the group by flying above us under the guise of Official Screenie Taker, we marched through the city. I think most Emerald Dreamers were a little bemused to see this parade dance by, but we didn’t get one negative reaction. Kudos to the realm community!
A bunch of us decided to let the Horde share our merriment and off we went, on foot, through Elwynn Forest, Duskwood, Stranglethorn, The Barrens and Durotar towards Orgrimmar, while picking up a stray Shaman on our way (hi Yoil! Was great to meet ya! o/ ). Our aim: to reach Garrosh Hellscream and teach him how to partaaay! A few corpse runs later, I still don’t know who reached him first, but you can bet his fugly face had a hint of a smile on it when we were done in there!
All in all, it was a fantastic night. When we started the guild, I don’t think anyone would have guessed this was possible for us, especially so soon. Sadly, not everyone could attend (and they were very much missed!), but we hope to see them at our next party!
